The location-based social network Gowalla announced on its homepage that it will be shutting down. TheNextWeb was the first site to report the news. According to TheNextWeb, Gowalla’s message said, “Thank you for going out with Gowalla. It was a pleasure to journey with you around the world. Download your check-ins, photos, and lists here soon."

Not surprised. I downloaded their app a long time ago and quickly uninstalled it.
