Infortrend Debuts 6Gb/s SAS Drive Connectivity at Storage Networking World 2010

New EonStor DS Solution Doubles Data Transfer Rate, Cost Effectively Meets Needs of High Availability Applications

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) -  STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD Infortrend®(TPE: 2495), the networked storage expert, today announced at Storage Networking World (SNW) the availability of its new EonStor DS 8Gb/s FC to 6Gb/s SAS series. The newest addition to Infortrend's EonStor DS product family offers the latest in SAS drive connectivity, providing SMB users with even more options for affordable storage solutions in high availability environments.

Introduced earlier this year, the first EonStor DS models come with host connectivity choices of 8Gb/s Fibre Channel (FC), 4Gb/s FC and 1GbE iSCSI. Flexible drive options of 3Gb/s SAS or SATA are available. Powered by Infortrend's latest RAID engine, the EonStor DS models deliver outstanding throughput to significantly improve SAN application productivity and offer superior price/performance. The addition of the new 8Gb/s FC to 6Gb/s SAS series offers users more drive options and expands the product family to include the latest SAS protocol standard.

With hard disk drive vendors no longer shipping 3Gb/s SAS drives, 6Gb/s SAS drives are quickly becoming the new standard. By integrating the latest SAS technology, Infortrend offers users the ability to optimize transfer rates to support today's extremely bandwidth-hungry applications -- including server virtualization, backup and video streaming. In addition to better performance, the technology also brings users faster and more accurate troubleshooting and faster system initialization and change detection. It is also backward compatible, meaning that current 3Gb/s SAS investments will be preserved.

According to James Hsieh, vice president of global marketing at Infortrend, "Assessing and meeting the needs of our customers is a top-of-mind concern for Infortrend, and being one of the first to announce external disk systems supporting 6Gb/s SAS drives is a testament to this fact. As with all of the other EonStor DS systems, the new series provides SMB users with affordable storage solutions for high availability environments. Moreover, the latest member of the EonStor DS family enables enhanced application productivity and management efficiency."

During SNW, Infortrend will be showcasing their ESVA®EonNAS, and EonStor® DS product family lines at booth number 110. For more information, please visit www.infortrend.com.
