A recent email asks:

Today on My computer, I keep getting this "Security Tool" screen pop up and begins scanning and tells me I have 46 infections.  I have no clue what this program is.

I keep clicking out of it and saying "keep me uprotected.    I do my quick scan with my symantec anti-virus and it tells me that there is a file called "Security tool fraud".

When I reboot my computer after symantec says they will take care of it I get the message

Symantec Anti-Virus could not complete remediation tasks

What the hell??

Any help?

You got a virus that has build-in antivirus defense.

A more difficult task to remove than normal virus.

I’m not up on the latest procedures of getting rid of it, but my guys in the shop are.
I copied them on this email. Perhaps they can help.

Try installing a program called SuperAntispyware.  It can be downloaded at www.superantispyware.com.  That is the program we use here in the shop and it is pretty good at removing most threats.

Some viruses/malware are good at making removing them difficult.
Using windows restore (I think that's it) is a good way to reboot back to a version before you were infected so you can run a virus scan to hopefully find the infection.
Malwarebytes (get it at malwarebytes.org) does a great job of removing things.
And I would switch to AVAST in the future. :)

So do you think AVAST is the best antivirus software? I am asking cause I want to change it and I can't decide what to use. I found a few days ago a website with reviews of the best ten antivirus software and if I'm not wrong avast was on the list too. This means that it's really good. Could you give me more details about it, cause I guess I'll use this one.

Avast is decent, I would definitely recommend it over norton any given day.  I prefer AVG which is also free for personal use.

Avast or AVG will do a good job...

Speaking of AVAST I did just yesterday clean a PC with AVAST on it. It was infected with your typical rogue AV agent.

I guess no matter what you are using you can get fooled and allow a virus in.

But the point is my friend would have cleaned it himself had AVAST been able to do it.

But that was not the case and it ended up at my house where I loaded Super Anti Spyware which removed the virus with no problems.
