If Outlook 2000 is hanging at the "Please wait while outlook closes" screen, it can be fixed by obtaining a hotfix from microsoft. In order to apply the fix, you must first have Office 2000 Service Release 1a (SR-1a) from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=af6c8d03-7633-45b4-ab96-795ee656f2a2&displaylang=en
 
 
Now, the actual hotfix for the problem cannot be obtained from Microsoft without placing a phone call to their support line, but there are websites hosting the file to save you the trouble such as this one. http://www.adminnotes.com/hotfix/2004/04/office2000kb834005.zip
 
Exctract the files to a folder and then run them and Outlook should no longer get stuck exiting.

Couple days ago I renamed my folder in MS Outlook and after that something happened.Fortunately myself helped next sofrware-outlook .ost file repair sequence.Tool is free as far as I know,I found it in the blog,moreover application can as well will work under all versions of Microsoft Windows and supports all versions of Microsoft Outlook email client.

Typically if my OST is corrupt I just create a new one...

For me MS Outlook is an unusual software, because of the application can solve a lot of different problems with emails for free - outlook 2007 pst recovery. Moreover some days ago it resolved my trouble with emails quite easy and simply as far as  I remembered. The software demonstrated me how it could easily extract your contacts as well as other files.
