If you have ever had a problem with IE (Internet Explorer) 7 or 8 just sit / hang at "connecting " when you launch it there a couple of things that can fix this problem.
1) Get rid of google desktop / or uninstall test then reinstall
2) run "netsh winsock reset catalog" from a command prompt and reboot.

lol, next time a customer calls and tells me something is not working I will just tell them to use something else...
