Microsoft is warning of attacks on their presentation software application, PowerPoint. Just by opening PowerPoint, a user can infect his computers and possibly other connected computers.

This is a horrible attack. Just about everyone uses PowerPoint for their presentations.

Well on the bright side I see that Microsoft says:

"The vulnerability cannot be exploited automatically through e-mail. For an attack to be successful a user must open an attachment that is sent in an e-mail message"

So as always be careful what you open.

It is typically good advise to never open any e-mail if you do not know who it is from, this is especially true for an unknown attachment.
